Zoning Code Updates

Tree Preservation
The City Council has directed Planning and Zoning staff to review and revise as needed the current Tree Preservation ordinance (§1011.04 – Tree Preservation and Restoration in All Districts).  Earlier in 2015, the City hired Sambatek to review the current ordinance and recommend amendments.
  
At their regular meeting on December 7, the City Council reviewed and approved the revised ordinance.  See Council Packet - Item 14. e for the draft ordnance.

At their regular meeting on November 16, the City Council reviewed a request to amend Section 1011.04 - Tree Preservation and Restoration in all Districts. The Council suggested a number of modifications and asked for the item to come back at a future meeting for approval.  Council Packet - Agenda Item 14d 

At a joint meeting of the City Council and Planning Commission on July 6, 2015, Ben Gozola of Sambatek described Sambatek’s approach to authoring the amendments (see link below).  Gozola then invited Council members and Planning commissioners to provide input to ensure Sambatek fully understands the City’s objectives and expectations. Gozola concluded by indicating that he would share the feedback received with Sambatek staff and prepare draft amendments. At their regular meeting on August 24, the Council received a presentation from Sambtek outlining a draft ordinance.  The Council discussed the draft and provided the consultant with comment for revisions to the draft ordinance.  The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to gather public input on amendments to the Tree Preservation and Restoration regulations.

At their October 7th meeting, the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider proposed amendments to Chapter 1011 of the City Code pertaining to tree preservation, replacement, and landscaping requirements.  The Planning Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.  October 7, 2015 Planning Commission Agenda and Packet (see page 32).
  
Planned Unit Developments (PUD)
The City Council has directed Planning and Zoning staff to develop a Planned Unit Development ordinance to replace the one repealed in 2010.  Earlier in 2015, the City hired Sambatek to develop the new ordinance.

At their regular meeting on December 7th, the City Council received an overview of the work completed since the July 6th Council meeting by Ben Gozola of Sambatec, the consultant for the creation of Planned Unit Development (PUD) Standards.  See Council Agenda Item 15 a. (starting on page 194). 

At their regular meeting on November 16, the City Council was scheduled to receive an overview of the work completed since the July 6th Council meeting by Ben Gozola of Sambatec, the consultant for the creation of Planned Unit Development (PUD) Standards, however that item was postponed to the Council's December 7th meeting.
