Parks and Recreation Activities Increase

Skatepark

Over the past several weeks, Roseville Parks and Recreation has been excited to launch many COVID-safe programs and reopen services to help keep residents active and engaged in their community.

This week marked the kick off for Camp CARE daycamp, Kicker and Slugger Sports programs, Nature Center camps, tennis lessons, ice skating, dancing and more. Several hundred residents are currently enrolled in the programs, which will be offered throughout the summer.

According to health officials, continuing to be active, particularly in an outdoor setting, is one of the most important factors in maintaining strong mental health during the pandemic. Although there are many activities that cannot be offered in their traditional format, most notably large gatherings, staff have continued to work creatively to modify programs and services to ensure safe options for Roseville residents.

In the coming weeks, staff hopes to resume some adult sports, wellness programs, picnic shelter rentals and more.  Additionally, staff continues to evaluate ways in which other activities may safely be offered later in the summer.

Staff, volunteers and community members are disappointed that Rosefest, has been canceled for 2020 due to the pandemic.  However, don’t despair for too long: staff is committed to ensuring that the 2021 Rosefest returns with a bang!
