You can either take your stuff to a charity or have one pick up material at your home. Roseville has three drop off charities in the area:
· Goodwill, 1627 W. County Road B
· Bridging, 1633 Terrace Drive · Penny Pinchers, 3490 Lexington Ave., Suite 205
Goodwill takes items such as reusable clothes, books, CDs, sporting goods or housewares they can resell. Bridging takes reusable mattresses, box springs, furniture and other household items for families in transition. Penny Pinchers serves as a work skills training site for at-risk youth. They accept clothing, dishes, house wares, toys, shoes, books, CDs and furniture for resale. Items must be reusable. Don't make the charity solve recycling or disposal problems.
For charities that pick up material call the United Way at 2-1-1 to tell them what you have to donate, and where you live. They provide live information around the clock. United Way 2-1-1 is a free service in the Twin Cities metro area.
For tax purposes, keep an itemized list of donated items. For information on what your stuff is worth see IRS Publication 561, "Determining the Value of Donated Property." |
