Awards Showcase Residents Improving Our Water Quality
Tour the winners July 31-August 1, 2010
Roseville and Shoreview are recognizing residents who are helping to improve water quality in our lakes, ponds, streams and wetlands.
Seven homeowners and businesses are winners of the Green Community Awards, which showcase Roseville and Shoreview properties that display the best management practices for improving water quality in local lakes, streams and wetlands. A free public tour of winning properties will be held Saturday and Sunday, July 31 and August 1. This year's tour will feature some of this year's winners are well as some previous winners.
The program is open to residents of Shoreview and the portion of Roseville that is within the Grass Lake Watershed District. Judges evaluated properties for their use of rain gardens, shoreline buffers, native plant gardens, permeable driveways or patios and other property features that protect and improve water quality. The program is intended to be educational, rather than competitive.
