No Driver's Licenses Processing on September 28

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety will be performing scheduled maintenance to the state driver’s license system on Saturday, September 28. As a result, the Roseville License Center will be unable to process driver’s license renewals that day.

REAL DLs/IDs Increase Wait Times

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is posting signs at airports reminding travelers that the REAL ID enforcement is approaching. Beginning October 1, 2020, travelers will need a REAL ID, Enhanced Driver's License or ID or a passport book or passport card to board domestic flights or to enter federal facilities. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety offers additional information about REAL ID. The U.S. Department of State offers additional infomration about obtaining a passport book or passport card. 

Please expect longer wait times due to new driver’s license and identification card requirements for those choosing to obtain a REAL DL/ID.

Enhanced Driver's License and Identification Card

The Roseville License Center accepts applications for the enhanced version of the Minnesota driver’s license or identification card. Enhanced driver’s licenses and identification cards allow re-entry into the United States via land and sea from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda or the Caribbean.

Enhanced driver's licence and identification card applications will be accepted Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. only. Applicants should allow a minimum of 45 minutes to complete the enhanced driver’s license or identification card process. This process is only for enhanced driver’s license or identification card applications and not for standard or REAL ID/DL.


The Roseville License Center serves the general public as a Minnesota Department of Public Safety Deputy offering licenses for:

  • Hunting 
  • Off-Road Vehicles 
  • Snowmobile 
  • State Auto 


The License Center also provides passport services.
