100 Years of Sinatra

Tuesday, March 3

We will travel by coach bus for a wonderful lunch at the 400 Club restaurant in St. Cloud. The buffet will have several entrees, side dishes, salads, beverage, and dessert. Then, we are off to the Paramount Theatre. This historic turn of the century 700-seat theatre was renovated in 1998 complete with a gift shop featuring Minnesota artists. Andrew Walesch and his big band will perform 100 Years of Sinatra featuring songs he made popular, including: "Fly Me to the Moon" and "My Way."

Sea Life at Mall of America

Experience sharks, sea turtles, stingrays, freshwater fish, and more! The 1,200,000 gallon Sea Life Aquarium at the Mall of America (MOA) is home to thousands of aquatic creatures. Before you experience the awesome Sea Life Aquarium, you'll do some shopping at MOA and then, sit down to a yummy lunch at Fire Lake Restaurant at the Radisson Blu. Please note, this trip requires a lot of walking.

American Swedish Institute

Learn about the Turnblad family and how they donated their wealth to become what is now the American Swedish Institute. During the Historical House Tour of the Turnblad Mansion you will discover crafted details, from the intricate woodcarvings to ornate Swedish ceramic stoves, throughout the exquisite 33-room mansion. Prior to the tour you will enjoy contemporary everyday Swedish lunch called Smorgas. Following the Turnblad Mansion Tour you will have time to self-tour the current American Swedish Institute exhibit.

Skyrock Horse Farm and Carousel Tour

The moment guests enter they are  transported back to the magical era! Join owner Bill Nunn who is passionate to share the music, the era and the giant pieces of art that were invented to play music without a musician. This tour ends in the ballroom where we will enjoy coffee, lemonade, and a hearty, home cooked meal. Guests will have ample time to enjoy their meal and dessert before taking a 50 foot walk to the barn. Chairs are provided in the indoor arena where guests will experience the experience the excitement of high jumping horses. After the jumping exhibition, guests will be invited to meet the horses, tour the barn and view the gardens, as time allows.

Victorian and Art Patterns (Barn Quilts)

We will learn the history of Barn Quilts as we explore one of the largest open-air galleries in Minnesota. The quilts are designed for barns as they are drawn to scale, painted on wooden panels and hung on exterior walls of historic farm buildings. We will head to Carver County were many are located. We will learn the history of the farm and the story of each pattern. Lunch will be at the Victoria House and will included a cup of pepperoni soup, half of BLT sandwich, beverage and cookie. After lunch we will visit the Arts Consortium Art Center and then meet Suzanne Thiesfeld at the 501 shop. Suzanne is a Barn Quilt Artiste and her shop showcases quilts, antiques and original art work.

"Cabaret" at the Guthrie

Join us to see “Cabaret”, a dazzling musical that that takes place inside Berlin’s seedy Kit Kat Klub. Patrons of the club are invited to take part in a decadent underworld of musical numbers as a way to escape the Nazi influences just outside their doors. It’s a musical performance you won’t want to miss. We first have lunch at the Hen House Eatery, formerly known as Peter’s Grill, where we will enjoy a cup of homemade soup, chicken salad sandwich, beverage and a cookie. We will then head over to the Guthrie Theater where you can ride on the longest escalator in the Midwest, see the Endless Bridge that extends 178 feet from the face of the
building and experience the postcard effect of the windows directing your eyes to specific attractions in the landscape surrounding the building. We will then head into the theater where we will see the performance of “Cabaret”. Guests will need to manage steps in the theater.

Chocolate Tasting

Chocolate, Chocolate Chocolate! We will stop at the Afton House Inn overlooking the St. Croix River Valley where we will be able to explore the inn and surrounding shops. Lunch will be served at the Afton Inn and will include chicken crepes severed with rice pilaf, fresh vegetables, rolls with butter, and coffee or hot tea. After lunch we will sample some of Afton’s fine chocolates. We then stop at the Phipps Inn in Hudson, to view the 1884 Victorian mansion and sample some of Hudson’s fine chocolates. Our final chocolate tasting will at
the Outing Lodge at Pine Point, a stately European county home from the 19th century. Please note: Some walking and standing is required at each of the stops.

Stillwater River Boat Cruise

Traveling to Stillwater, we will board a beautiful paddlewheel riverboat for a cruise down the historic and scenic St. Croix River. During the cruise we will enjoy a deli buffet of sliced meats and cheeses served with fresh bakery rolls, sandwich fixings, fresh fruit, seasonal salad, warm entrée selection and a gourmet cookie assortment. Come enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the St. Croix.
