Fraud, Scams and Identity Theft

Scammers are heartless. Learn how to defend yourself against fraud, scams and identity theft at the next Get to Know Roseville Police event on Tuesday, March 27 at the Roseville Skating Center.

Scammers use threatening tactics, warning that a federal agent or police officer is on the way to arrest the targeted victim or that a loved one will be sent to prison. They even go through obituaries to get enough information to fool a grieving family member.

Some of the recent scams that the Roseville Police have seen lately include:

  • An IRS call demanding immediate payment for a tax bill.
  • A police officer calling to say they have a warrant for your arrest and demand money for bail.
  • Notification that your insurance policy is about to lapse because of an unpaid premium.
  • A call from a “grandchild” saying he is in trouble and asking the grandparents to send money.

The Roseville Police Department will help you keep your hard-earned money. Join them on March 27 for a free class to learn how to spot a scam and what to do if you believe you’ve been a victim.
