[ARCHIVED] Volunteer to Plant a Pollinator Garden

Help us plant a pollinator garden at the new Cleveland Avenue Park on Saturday, September 15. We’re planting more than 3,500 pollinator-friendly flowers, shrubs and trees, but we can't do it without volunteer help.

Honeybees, and other pollinators, are vital for most flowers, fruits and vegetables. Many of the country's crops would not exist and crop yield and quality would be greatly reduced without the honeybee. Unfortunately, the honeybee population has declined rapidly in recent years because of habitat loss, pesticide overuse and disease.

The City of Roseville has taken notice. The city has several programs and practices to help protect pollinators, including preserving natural areas, enhancing habitat, using native plants and limiting use of insecticides and herbicides in its landscaping.

The Cleveland Avenue Park pollinator garden is a new project to help protect pollinators. Rain or shine, we'll be planting on September 15 from 10 a.m. to noon. The new park is located at the corner of Cleveland Ave. and County Road B.

Join Roseville’s Natural Resources Renewal efforts to improve city parks by helping with the pollinator garden. Groups, individuals, and families are encouraged to participate. People of all ages are welcome and will have a role to play.

Contact Volunteer Coordinator Rachel Boogs at or 651-792-7028 for information about joining this community-building event. Thanks for your help creating a lasting environmental impact in our parks.
