Type of volunteering: Scott, who has autism, has volunteered at the Roseville Arboretum for the past three years.
Scott helps mulch around every tree in the arboretum and spends time picking up twigs and sticks and helps keep the arboretum grounds litter free. Previously he had volunteered at the Fire Station, helping with cleaning the station.Why he volunteers: Scott enjoys gardening, and he likes to work hard and to be in nature. Scott was looking for a volunteer opportunity that would help prepare him to transition to the adult work force. He lives in Roseville and was looking for a place near home.Because he volunteers: The city is able to maintain the arboretum to the highest standards. Visitors can enjoy seeing and learning about a variety of trees, plants and shrubs that flourish in Minnesota.
