Safety First with Fireworks

two sparklers

It’s tradition - fireworks on the Fourth of July. However, fireworks can bring danger. Most fireworks injuries occur in June and July, and the most common fireworks injuries are to children and teens being burned.

Non-explosive and non-aerial fireworks, including sparklers, snakes, poppers, cones and tubes that emit sparks, are legal in Roseville, but may not be used on public property. Purchasers must be 18 years or older. Explosive and aerial fireworks, including firecrackers, bottle rockets, missiles, roman candles, mortar and shells are prohibited from public sale or use in Roseville.

To make sure everyone stays safe, please follow these safety precautions:

  • Read and follow directions on the label
  • Wear eye protection
  • Light fireworks on a flat surface away from buildings, dry leaves or other flammable materials
  • Light only one item at a time
  • Do not re-light a "dud" firework
  • Dispose of fireworks by soaking in water before putting in a trash can
  • Keep fireworks away from children
  • Have a responsible adult in charge

Use discretion when setting off noisemakers, especially at night. Roseville prohibits noises that annoy or disturb a person or prevents their enjoyment of their property. A person may face charges if found guilty of violating city noise restrictions. Call 651-767-0640 if someone is lighting noisemakers at inappropriate times.
