September Community Events

9/11 Memorial

As we have done many times over the last several years, this year once again on 9/11 we placed our ladder truck and large flag on the front apron to remember those who sacrificed or lost their lives due to the events of 9/11. We appreciate the support of our community each and every day, however the showing of support throughout the day on 9/11 was greatly appreciated as we all remember that tragic day in our country’s history.

Library and Community Visits

September always brings back to school and a lot of school and community visits. Each year we get to meet with visitors at the Ramsey County Library in Roseville and talk about our fire trucks and fire safety. 

We also start to head back into the classrooms and love getting to chat with students and adults alike! If you are interested in having the fire department visit your group you can reach out to Emily at 651-792-7309.

September Notable Events

Vehicle vs. House

Firefighters responded to a vehicle accident with possible injuries. Upon arrival firefighters found a pickup truck had struck the side of a house causing a substantial amount of damage to the home. No occupants of the house were injured, the drive was evaluated by Firefighter/Paramedics with minor injuries reported.

Apartment Fire/Van Fire

The Fire Department was alerted to a reported “Vanity” fire at an apartment building in Roseville on September 6^th. Upon arrival it was determined that it was not a vanity fire, but rather a VAN on fire outside the building. No injuries were reported and the fire was quickly extinguished upon arrival with minor damage to the vehicle.

Live Fire Training

Firefighters, along with several of our Fire Explorers participated in our live fire training on Saturday September 23^rd. We are grateful for the sacrifice that our firefighters and Fire Explorers make to help make these live fire training events successful. These critical training events continue to assure your Firefighters are ready to respond to any needs you may have!

September Training 

September was a great month for training.  For our EMS topic we worked on trauma care, splinting, back-boarding and victim removal from vehicles accident.  These types of calls require very rapid intervention and they often are in a chaotic environment such as a vehicle accident or traumatic event.  Our firefighters have many different pieces of equipment to care for such injuries.  Bandages, tourniquets, back-boards and spinal collars. 

Our fire topics were vehicle extrication and live burn.  Each shift was able to spend a week working on a couple full cars.  We practiced using our extrication tools, worked on stabilization, teamwork and gaining access to patients that are trapped in a vehicles after an accident.  

Our Live burn is a great opportunity to put our skills and training to the test with real fire and smoke.  We conducted multiple evolutions.  The focus of the training victim location and removal, hose-line management with fire-attack.
