The Roseville School of Dance Recital Track classes will begin Monday, September 8 and continue through the end of the year recital (April/May, 2026). A handbook will be emailed to families in early September and will include a calendar of important dates, costume fees, and information about the upcoming year.

First time class for dancers with little or no dance experience. Work on fundamentals of ballet, while incorporating creative movement games and props. The class will focus on balance, fine motor skills and spatial awareness. Ballet shoes are required -see class description on Active for specifics.

A Prep class for Intermediate 1, dancers ages 8 and 9 with dance experience will expand their understanding of Jazz technique and begin to master Tap and Ballet basics and get an introduction to more complex concepts in the Tap and Ballet form. Class for dancers who have beginner dance experience. Dancers continue to be challenged with new and exciting jazz dance steps. Class also introduces Lyrical/Modern dance style. Dancers work on flexibility, floor progressions and understanding of weight shifting. This class does not cover Tap or Ballet and is intended to be paired with an Intermediate Technique Ballet/Tap class, though not required. Required shoes details can be found on Active.

Class for dancers who have completed Intermediate 1 dance. Dancers continue to be challenged with new and exciting jazz dance steps, while mastering Jazz basics. Class also continues to deepen dancers' understanding of the Lyrical/Modern dance style. This class does not cover Tap or Ballet and is intended to be paired with a Technique Ballet/Tap class, though not required. Ballet and tap are the foundation of many dance techniques. Expand your ballet/tap technique beyond the Beginner level, and continue to strengthen your foundation. This class allows dancers to focus on improving their skills and technique without the pressure of learning several complex dances. Highly recommended as a supplemental class for students already enrolled in an (intermediate) recital-based class. While choreography will be taught, the focus of this class will be on strengthening a solid foundation and speed, accuracy, and tightness of tap/ballet combinations not on choreography. Specific shoe requirements can be found on Active.

Class for dancers who have completed Intermediate Dance. Dancers continue to be challenged with new and exciting jazz dance steps, while mastering Jazz basics. Class also continues to deepen dancers understanding of the Lyrical/Modern dance style. Dancers work on flexibility, floor progressions, the role of emotions in dance and understanding of weight shifting. Dancers will also be introduced to the choreographic processes, and have the opportunity to a put in a piece of input in creating their own dances with instructor supervision. This class does not cover Tap or Ballet and is intended to be paired with a Technique Ballet/Tap class, though not required. Specific shoe requirement can be found in program description on Active.

Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs with acting and dance. The story and emotional content of a musical – humor, love, anger – are communicated through music and movement. Dance classes for children that include musical theatre provides them with solid technical training, performance training, and a fun, supportive environment to create, achieve and grow as a dancer and human being. Black jazz shoes are required.

A class for those who have completed hip hop 4. Hip Hop will continue to work on tight body movements with a low center of gravity and lots of quick weight shifting and transitions between hard hitting and smooth movements. This class will include fun, modern street dancing, and will continue to learn several types of hip hop and hip hop skills. We also will be working on synchronization and using teamwork in order to build dance combinations used to create a competitive Hip Hop dance. Fees include entry to 1 competition that will be announced at a later time. Tennis shoes/sneakers required.

This class will focus on the strength, flexibility, and skills/tricks necessary for being a part of a dance team. We also will be working on synchronization and using teamwork in order to build dance combinations used to create a competitive dance. Dancers will work on all Jazz, Lyrical, and Contemporary techniques and will complete with a dance in one of those categories. Great to take in addition to Advanced Combo or Technique classes! Fees include entry to 1 competition that will be announced at a later time. Jazz and Lyrical shoes are required. Shoe requirements will be determined once costume is picked.
