In 2022, Roseville launched the Accelerated EAB Program to address all of Roseville’s public inventoried ash trees – ash trees in maintained park spaces and City right of way. The Accelerated EAB program:
- Remove and replace or treat all inventoried public ash trees in a phased, multi-year program.
- Minimize short-term canopy loss by pairing removals with timely replanting.
- Diversify the City’s tree canopy to ensure long-term resilience against future pests and diseases.
- Prioritize efficiency, community engagement, and public safety in all stages of implementation.
Ultimately, the City entered into a partnership with Tree Trust to implement the program, setting an ambitious goal of removing 914 ash trees, planting 1,152 new trees, and treating 238 heritage ash trees by 2025 at an anticipated cost of $1,400,000 by 2025.
