About Officer Wiesner
Rooster's handler is Officer Zach Wiesner. Officer Wiesner was hired as a Police Officer by the Roseville Police Department in May of 2014. Officer Wiesner has many roles at the department including serving as a Field Training Officer, Use of Force Instructor, and Background Investigator.
Officer Wiesner became interested in being a part of the K9 Unit when he first started on patrol and was introduced to the working K9s at the department. Through many hours of decoying and assisting in trainings, he grew to love working with the dogs. He became increasingly fascinated by the intricate nature of the role, particularly in terms of comprehensive training and the comprehension of animal behavior. He marveled at the capabilities of these animals and quickly recognized their vital role in everyday Police operations.
In Officer Wiesner's words...
Time, commitment, and patience is pivotal when developing and training a working dog. However, this time and effort is extremely rewarding and builds a hardworking, loyal partner.
If I have learned anything from being a K9 handler, it is that patience, dedication, and discipline can help you achieve any goal. If you stay focused on your goals, even if something doesn't go your way or is taking too long, it's okay. Use it as an opportunity to train and get better at your craft. This mentality can be applied to any life skills you set your mind on, whether its sports, hobbies, or career goals. And most importantly, don't forget to have fun while you're doing it.
