Ali Handford understands the practice and perseverance required to compete as a gymnast. She was on Roseville Parks and Recreation’s competition team for 6 years. Her strongest event was the uneven bars.
Ali now relies on that experience to coach gymnastics for Roseville.
“It’s cool to see gymnastics through both of those lenses. I love being around kids, and I love seeing them try new skills,” Ali said.
Ali, who graduated from Mounds View High School this spring and will attend Bethel University in the fall, said Roseville gymnastics has guided and nurtured her since she started in the program at age 4.
“It feels like family. I have formed so many connections with people there,” Ali said. “I just love it so much. The coaches were just amazing, and they created such a welcoming environment for all gymnasts. We just bonded and I am so grateful for it.”
Ali started coaching at age 14 and said it’s gratifying to create that welcoming experience for young gymnasts and their families.
“It’s an amazing program and I would recommend it for any parent looking for a safe gymnastics environment for their kids,” she said.
